The Educational Service for Hearing and Vision supports pupils and students in four Unitary Authorities under a joint arrangement with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, North Lincolnshire Council (Vision Only), North East Lincolnshire Council and led by Kingston upon Hull City Council

About us

ESHV operates an open referral system whereby any agency can request advice or support. The service offers a telephone help-line open from 9.00am until 4.30pm Monday to Friday during school term time.
Where an expression of concern arises regarding possible visual or hearing difficulties, schools, parents or other involved parties are invited to telephone the service on 01482 318400.
Initial details will be requested regarding the pupil and the nature of the problems being experienced. ESHV will then normally offer an initial assessment visit at a mutually agreed date and time. This visit can take place in school, at home or any other appropriate venue. The service will endeavour to make the visit within 14 calendar days of the initial referral although referees should note this is dependent upon the number of requests being dealt with at the time. As an outcome of the initial assessment visit and after all appropriate consultation, a decision will then be reached regarding any further action required.
